Some things from early 2016

In the process of moving some old boxes I FINALLY found my little point and shoot camera.  Here are some pictures I did last spring.

11 x 14 Oil on canvas panel

This little painting I used more of a dabbing motion with my brush on parts of the painting.  I was trying to get more of a pixelated look in places such as the ground and the trees.

11 x 14 Oil on canvas panel

Looking at it now that red really pops.  Sold this one at one of our art shows

11 x 14 Oil on canvas

Painting of a lake using green as a color scheme instead of the usual colors I tend to lean towards.  I sold this one almost as soon as it was done.

Grandma's Old School

Oil on canvas, 16x20

I painted this on Thanksgiving of 2016 while spending the holiday at my grandparents.  Grandpa (who is also an artist) let me use his art supplies and I picked a random photo he had sitting next to his easel.  I didn't realize until I had done a lot of work and my grandma had walked into grandpa's studio that the building in the picture is where she went to school.

First post in over a year!

Back in August of this year (2016) I came out with my FIRST PRINT!

It is titled "Freedom" the original was done on 16 x 20 canvas panel in oil paint.  The print itself is a little smaller.

"Freedom" The original oil painting

The Print

The printer made the print a bit darker than the original, and I'm  happy she did.  It seems to sharpen the overall image up quite a bit and adds depth to places you wouldn't even think about such as the folds on the the flag.  This piece is part of my ongoing series of pictures involving the American Flag and the bald eagle.  This is the first time I added something else to the mix though, that being "We the People" from the United States constitution.   i hadn't ever done lettering like that with oil paint before it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.

More graphite

Couple of sketches

Recently I switched to sketching on watercolor paper as it is more sturdy , here's a couple things I've done!

11x14 Graphite.  Cordel Hull lake!

11x14 Graphite.  I drew this by looking at one of my grandpa's pictures (his painting is called "reflections" if your into his work)

Also, shameless plug here, I have started to put my work on ebay so come check me out and help support a young artist! ;)

Orange Lake

Orange Lake Scene

18 x 24 Oil on canvas

Yet another orange lake.  This one is a little bigger than usual, as the size I tend to prefer to work with is 16 x 20.  I'm probably going to continue with this size as it seems good for landscape work.

Buck

"Buck" 18 x 24 oil on canvas.

I've actually never been deer hunting in my life, only small game like squirrel, so when people start talking to me about the "points" or whatever I just have to shrug.  I do enjoy the taste of the meat though, delicious.  I spent quite a bit more time on this than usual.
